Day to Day Itinerary
Day 1: Nairobi – Samburu
We will transfer you either from your accommodation or the international airport to Samburu Game Reserve. The Reserve is a Kenyan less visited Game Reserve and is situated within the Rift Valley. The Reserve Measures approximately 104 sq. Km (approx. 65 sq. miles) in size, this unfenced Savannah grassland is roughly 350 km (217 miles) from Nairobi. It is relatively small in size compared to other Kenyan parks, such as Tsavo but it has more to offer as well as several endangered species. Upon arrival check in the Camp, and thereafter at 16:00 proceed for the afternoon game drive. The game drive will run for about 3 hours returning to the camp or Lodge for dinner and overnight.
Day 2:Samburu
The second day will be spent exploring this amazing game reserve with 2 options of half-day and later afternoon safari or early morning and afternoon game drives. It gives you the refreshment of your mind as the park is very calm and relaxing. It is home to elephants, Lion, Leopard, Buffalo, Gerenuk, Reticulated Giraffe, Somali Ostrich, Gravy Zebra, Baisy Oryx, Endangered Wild Dog as well as Pancake Tortoise – Endangered. There are over 450 species of birds identified and aquatic species in the Ewaso Nyiro River including, vultures, kingfishers, marabous, bateleurs, guinea fowl, Somali ostriches, and others. The whole day will be spent exploring the park for the whole day’s game drive.
Day 3: Samburu – Ol- Pejeta Conservancy
Wake up early for breakfast before heading to Ol Pejeta conservancy with game-drive en-route situated in Nanyuki, at the foot of Mt. Kenya (Africa’s second tallest mountain) Laikipia county. After a 3 hour drive, you check in to the camp or lodge in time for lunch and relaxing. The afternoon safari starts at 16:00 with a visit to the Chimpanzee Sanctuary, a charming haven established by the Jane Goodall Institute to provide sanctuary to orphaned chimps, and the specially protected and fenced, refuge of the black rhino with its stunning forty specimens! Sweetwaters boasts excellent game viewing with the highest ratio of game to an area of any park or reserve in Kenya. Back to the camp for dinner and overnight.
Day 4: Ol – Pejeta
After breakfast, we explore the exotic Sweetwaters Sanctuary on two extensive safaris in the morning till mid-day, and another one in the afternoon.
Our camp also overlooks one of the busiest waterholes in the area and offers elephant, giraffe, and myriad plains game while at the camp. This waterhole will guarantee that you have very close encounters with the animals. This is Africa as Teddy Roosevelt saw it years ago when he led one of the first safaris to tour Africa in comfort and splendor.
Day 5: OL Pejeta Conservancy – Maasai Mara
Have an early breakfast and you will be driven to Ol Pejeta airstrip located inside the conservancy. This is a short flight approximately 45Mins. to Masai Mara. Your Flight Baggage is strictly limited to 15 kilograms of most preferably soft bags.
You will land in an airstrip where you will be met by our driver guide and transferred to your camp in a 4×4 Safari Jeep with game drive en route. The Reserve is administered by the local county council. It is the most famous and most visited reserve in Kenya. It offers breathtaking views (seen in the film ‘Out of Africa’, much of which was filmed here) an extraordinary density of animals including the “Big Five” and many varieties of plains game. Our handpicked choice of the camp is an acclaimed, luxury property that offers the best game experience at proximity in the Mara plains.
Check-in at the camp in good time for lunch and spend early afternoon hours leisurely before exploring on your first wildlife safari starting 1600 hrs. before retiring to your camp overnight.
Day 6: Full day Mara
After breakfast, you will spend a full day viewing the great predators and exploring the park’s high concentration of wild animals. On the plains, you will see enormous herds of grazing animals plus the elusive leopard and occasional cheetah amidst acacia boughs.
Your packed lunch will be served in open grassland Savannah as you enjoy the breathtaking expansive wildness. In the afternoon you will head to the Mara River where you will view hippos and crocodiles who bask in the water all day long heading back to the camp in the late afternoon for dinner and your overnight stay.
Day 7: Masai Mara
This day will be spent with an early morning and evening game drive to experience the activity of the wildlife at sunrise and sunset. The mid-day was spent leisurely at the hotel with options of a visit to Maasai cultural village for a glimpse of their rich culture. If you are craving a wild Adrenalin rush, an early morning balloon safari over the Mara plains is all you need.
The Masai Mara sunset spices up your sundowner before retiring to your camp for the night.
Day 8- Maasai Mara – Nairobi
You will wake up early for a game drive after which you will return to the lodge for a late breakfast. After breakfast, you will check out and travel back to Nairobi. Upon arrival, you will be dropped off at your hotel or the airport for your flight home.
