Day to Day Itinerary
Day 1: Nairobi – Samburu National Reserve
Upon arrival at the airport, you will be welcomed by Native Africa Trails meet and greet representatives that will take you through a thorough briefing of what your safari entails. He will introduce you to your safari guide and depart heading to Samburu arriving in good time for check-in and lunch. You first embark on your first photographic safari in the afternoon returning to our handpicked camp for dinner and overnight.
Day 2: Samburu
You will start your day with a sunrise safari after a cup of coffee/tea at 06:00 am returning for breakfast at 09:00. Mid-morning will be spent leisurely at the Camp and later an evening safari returning to the camp for the dinner and overnight.
Day 3: Samburu – Ol- Pejeta Conservancy
After breakfast, we will leave for Ol -Pejeta Conservancy with a game drive on the route. The Conservancy is situated on the equator, west of Nanyuki, between the foothills of the Aberdares and Mt. Kenya.
The afternoon safari starts at 16:00 with a visit to the Chimpanzee Sanctuary. A charming haven established by the Jane Goodall Institute to provide sanctuary to orphaned chimps, and specially protected and fenced refuge of the black rhino with its stunning forty specimens! Sweetwaters boasts excellent game viewing with the highest ratio of game to an area of any park or reserve in Kenya. Back to the camp for dinner and overnight.
Day 4: Ol -Pejeta Conservancy – Lake Nakuru National Park
After spending a night at the foot of Mt. Kenya you will head to the beautiful Lake Nakuru National Park situated on the floor of the great rift valley. The lake is surrounded by wooded bushy grassland offering a haven to its abundant wildlife. Check-in, have lunch, and afternoon safari. The lake is famed for its mesmerizing views of millions of pink flamingos that color the lake pink. The Park is also one of the rhino sanctuaries in Kenya and a paradise for bird watchers.
Day 5: Lake Nakuru- Maasai Mara National Reserve
After breakfast, you will drive southwest to the unrivaled plains of the Maasai Mara National Reserve across the Maasai land through the Suswa plains with a brief stopover at the Maasai town of Narok. Continue towards the interior plains of the Mara arriving in time for lunch and an afternoon game drive. The Mara is Kenya’s most renowned game reserve with an extraordinary highest density of animals including the Big five and other varieties of plains game.
The 270 km long Mara River cuts through the Mara-Serengeti ecosystem offering the spectacle during the annual migration and life to the two-game reserves as it meanders through the savanna into Lake Victoria.
After checking in at your accommodation in good time for lunch you will later embark on an afternoon game drive starting at 16:00 until 18:30 for dinner and overnight at our handpicked camp.
Day 6: Masai Mara
On this day you enjoy a full day game drive in the Mara after breakfast. You will get a packed lunch and picnic in the wild. The highlight of this day is the instinct-led migration of wildebeests and zebras from the Serengeti to the Maasai Mara usually dubbed “Great Migration” where millions of wildebeests cross over the Mara River every year from the Serengeti in search of grazing pastures.
As they make their way across the Mara River, some of them are eaten by the hungry crocodiles awaiting them on the river banks (from mid-June till the end of October). The Great Migration which is listed as one of the wonders of the world is an experience that you will live to remember. In addition to this, Maasai Mara is home to other animals like waterbucks, baboons, gazelles, monkeys, impalas, Maasai giraffes among others, and over 500 bird species. Back to the camp at around 17:00.
Day 7: Masai Mara
This day will be spent on the half-day with picnic breakfast leaving the camp at 06:15 am after a cup of coffee/tea with snacks to experience the activity of wildlife at sunrise returning to the camp for lunch. Mid-day spent leisurely at the camp with options of a visit to Masai cultural village for a glimpse of their rich culture.
A short evening safari with a sundowner set up in midst of the savannah gazing at the magnificent sunset at the dimming gold African skies as you conclude your Mara experience. Return to camp for dinner and overnight. The Masai Mara sunset spices up your sundowner before retiring to your camp for the night.
Day 8: Maasai Mara – Serengeti National Park
After an early breakfast at the camp, you will depart with picnic lunches to the Kenya-Tanzania Isebania border. After the immigration formalities, your Kenyan guide will introduce you to our Tanzania guide who will take you to the next part of your East African odyssey in Tanzania and head straight to Serengeti with lunch along the way. Arriving late in the afternoon at our selected camp with a game drive en-route.
Serengeti is a vast ecosystem in East Africa with a humongous span of African savannah derived from Maasai language that means “Endless Plains”. Dinner and overnight under African skies at our handpicked safari camp.
Day 9: Serengeti National Park
On the second day of the Serengeti expedition, you will leave after a cup of coffee/tea at the camp with picnic breakfast returning for lunch at mid-day, leisure at the camp, and evening game drive returning for dinner and overnight after sunset.
Day 10: Serengeti – Ngorongoro
Early breakfast and proceed south to the magnificent Ngorongoro crater via the historical Olduvai Gorge whilst game watching is only interrupted by a picnic lunch en-route. The Olduvai Gorge cuts through rock beds layered in time sequence from 2 million years ago to the present. It is here where human fossils have been found dating back to over 1.75 million years including a direct ancestor of modern man. Fossil footprints (over three million years old) have also been found here and are the most ancient footprints yet discovered. There is an excellent site museum where you can explore the diggings. Ngorongoro sunset has a breathtaking view at the crater rim in the evening.
Day 11: Ngorongoro- Amboseli National Park
After breakfast, you will depart to Kenya – Tanzania Namanga border with picnic lunches, and after immigration formalities, you will proceed to Amboseli the land of “gentle giants”. You will arrive at the entrance to this amazing park in the late afternoon with a game drive en route to your selected camp for evening check-in, dinner, and overnight.
Day 12: Amboseli
The second day is spent with an early morning drive to observation hill which allows an overview of a good part of the park returning for breakfast at the hotel. Mid-day spent at leisure and a later afternoon game drive starting 16:00 till the sun sets down.
Day 13: Amboseli – Nairobi
Leisurely breakfast at the camp depending on your flight schedule with the latest check out at 10:00 is and drive to Nairobi.
You will be transferred to the hotel/JKIA for your outboard flight. End of our services and hope you enjoyed our companion.
